Signs That The Skincare Routine You Have Now Isn’t Working

If you are concerned that your skincare routine is not working for you or if you believe that you just aren’t getting the results you need then you are not alone. So many people are in the same situation as you right now, but there are things that you can do to try and turn things around. Want to find out more? Take a look below.

Your Routine has a Lot of Steps

You may think that the more steps you have with your skincare routine, the more effective it is going to be. This is not the case at all, and it’s important to know that if you use too many products then you end up doing yourself more harm than good. Some ingredients tend to cancel out the effects of others and this can leave your skin feeling very dry and cracked. It’s also possible for some ingredients to stop others from being absorbed as much as they could be because the PH levels are different. If you look at Vitamin C products, then you will soon find that these cannot be used with products that contain retinol. The PH levels are very different after all. You should also not use anti-acne products, such as the ones that contain benzoyl peroxide with ones that contain retinol. The main reason for this is because they are not compatible at all and you may find that they end up causing you skin issues, which is the last thing that you want. If you want to try and make a change here, then start out with a cleanser and a moisturizer. When you have done this, use an SPF lotion to try and achieve the skincare goals you have in mind.

You are Breaking Out

Sure, breakouts can happen, but if you feel as though you are not getting any relief after a few weeks then you need to make a change here. It may be that there is a good chance that your routine, is not working well for you or that the products you are using are not doing the job you want them to do. On the flip side, you could be using products that are just far too strong and this is causing your skin to go into overdrive. This is the last thing that you need, but there are ways for you to counter this. It may be that you use products that have acne-fighting ingredients in them, such as salicylic acid. This will help you to get the best result out of your skincare routine, so keep that in mind.

You have Discoloration

If you have discoloration of the skin then this could be because of your hormones, for example, if you are pregnant. You may also find that sun damage works against you. Either way, it’s also a sign that you are having a bad reaction to some of the ingredients in your skincare products. If you want to stop this from being the case, then you need to try and use a Vitamin C serum if you can. This will help you to stop anything from damaging your skin further and it will also help you to combat some of the brown spots that might be developing.

Your Skin is Irritated

Itchy skin or skin that is irritated may show that you are having a reaction to your products. It could also be a sign that you are experiencing contact dermatitis as well. If you want to find out what is causing things like this then you need to try and use a gentle cleaner as well as a moisturizer. It is also wise for you to slowly add your products back in so you can find out which one is giving you the reaction. If you can do this, then you will soon find that you can start improving your skincare routine. If you need some help because you suspect that there is something else causing your reaction then it could be worth looking into lyclear cream as this will help you to get to the bottom of the issue in no time at all.

Your Face Feels Tight

If your skin feels tight, then you should know that this isn’t always a good thing. You may find that your skin is too tight, and this means that your skin has been stripped of all its healthy oils. This will have a domino effect because you may find that you use more products to try and fix the issue and in reality, this is the last thing that you want to be doing. If you want to work around this then you need to try and stick with gentle cleansers that are soap-free. If you can do this, then you will soon find that you are able to save a huge amount of money.

You’re Not Using your Products Properly

More is not better. This is especially the case if you know that your products contain a lot of active ingredients, such as retinol. Ideally, you need to try and make sure that you are layering your products while also making sure that they are working well with each other. A good rule of thumb would be for you to cleanse your skin, before toning it. After that, you will need to spot treat, before moisturizing. If you can do this, then you can go ahead with the sunscreen after, ensuring that you end up looking after your skin without causing any detrimental effects.

You have Flushing

This is a good sign that you have adult rosacea. This is a very common condition, and it can be caused by red bumps or even blood vessels that are visible. If you suffer from this then you will need to add some anti-inflammatory serum. Ideally, this will be added between your cleansing and your protection stage, as this is when it will have the biggest impact. This should help you to get to the bottom of your issues, so keep that in mind if possible.
