Growth And Grounding: Fixing Your Diet For Extra Happiness

Growth And Grounding: Fixing Your Diet For Extra Happiness

Our body is like an engine. We put the right fuel in it and we can go, go, go! But if we put the wrong things in it, it's unsurprising that we begin to break down. And when it comes to living more mindfully in terms of the food that you eat, there is a link between the things you consume and how happy you feel. Gluten, for example, has been linked to depression and anxiety. And for those people that have gluten sensitivity, as soon as they get rid of this from the diet, they feel a lot better. But when it comes to making yourself happy all round, how much has your diet got to do with it?

You Are What You Eat!

Yes, it's an age-old expression, but it's still one worth shouting about. Sometimes we can feel cravings for things like chocolate, and no matter how hard we work at keeping our body a temple, there can be the temptation to have a sneaky bit of sugary stuff now and again. And it's important to remember that if you do feel this temptation, you need to think about how you're going to feel a few hours later or perhaps the next day. Sugar is one of those things that is dangerous in almost any amount. And as we can feel the temptation to get a bit more energy in us, there are always ways around this. If you feel that you need sugar, go for something natural, like honey, or add a little bit of cinnamon to tea to even out your blood sugar. There is always a way around the problem!

What You May Perceive To Be Healthy Isn't For You

We can spend a long time following a certain diet path, thinking that we are doing what's good for our bodies because of perceived wisdom. But sometimes, we have a sensitivity to specific foods. There are tests for food sensitivity that you can take, which will help shine the light on the subject. And it's important to get this done as soon as possible. Because you might be eating a very healthy salad, but if you are very keen on eating peppers, as they are part of the deadly nightshade family, they may be impacting your joints a little bit more than you realized. And even though we perceive these things to be healthy in a general sense, we have to remember that they may not always be healthy for us.

The Power Of Detoxification

We know how amazing being cleansed feels in our daily yoga practice, but what we can do to make it benefit us more is to do it through our diet. We may feel that extra bit of clarity if we work at detoxifying our body. Food is important, as it grounds us, but now, there's a lot of people that are extolling the virtues of fasting. Always remember, when it comes to this, you should consult a medical professional. But as far as cleansing the body is concerned, going through a fast can make you feel wonderful, although the first twenty-four to forty-eight hours are, indeed, the most challenging. Detoxifying yourself can rid you of impurities that you didn't realize were bad for you in the first place!

Diet is vital, but so is understanding what our own kryptonite is. And when you are feeling a little glum, but you don't know why, give consideration to your diet.
