It's a smart idea to get a hearing test every once in a while, just to assess your hearing health. It's similar to how you'd see a doctor once a year, or a dentist, to assess other aspects of your health. A hearing exam can show that you've started losing your hearing somewhat. There's no need to panic just yet, as you can stop things from getting worse with hearing aids. Many people can use first time hearing aids to delay their loss of hearing and maintain their current hearing health. Effectively, the hearing aids amplify sounds, which act as a way of protecting your ears because they're not straining to hear things so badly. Often, hearing loss quickens when you don't wear hearing aids from the beginning. So, a good way to maintain good hearing health is to take action the moment you spot things going awry.
