The winter has many desirable attributes. The potential of snow, counting down the days until Christmas, and the all-clear to wear your coziest coat wherever you go.

And then there's the downside of winter. It's the flu season. Which means everyone is at a higher risk of contracting an awful virus.

Whether you have underlying health conditions, you don't wish to exacerbate—a job you don't want to let down by falling ill. Or a family you need to take care of. There's plenty of reasons to try your best to make it through the winter without getting sick. And there are plenty of ways you can do it; cleaning is one of them.

Clean Hands

Our hands are largely responsible for moving germs around. From the door handles to the tap, the newspaper you read in the morning to the groceries you pick up at the store. Your hands are always on the go, touching and transferring a range of bacterias in the process.

To stop the spread of germs and prevent those germs from making you ill, regularly cleansing your hands for at least 20 seconds is critical.

When there isn't a tap and soap nearby, always remember to have a hand sanitizer with your logo handy. That way, if you've misplaced it at work, it'll be easier for someone to return to you and much simpler for you to identify.

Wash Off the Day

After you've been to the gym, at work, or fetched the children from school. Turn on the shower and wash away the pollution and germs that have caught onto your skin and hair throughout the day.

Washing your hands isn't the only thing you can do to keep germs at bay; cleansing your body is just as important.

Plus, freshening up after a hard day at work is essential to help you unwind and boost your well-being. Both of these are also essential to prevent you from getting ill from burnout caused by too much stress.

Spritz Your Home

Clutter, dust, and sticky fingerprints around the home all play a part in providing homes for bacteria to thrive.

Your home is your haven, but that isn't to say it's not got a few unwanted surprises in the form of germs and bacteria lurking around. From the bedsheets to the bath, there are plenty of places harmful bacteria can make a home and cause you to become infected and ill.

As such, owning a tidy and clean home is vital. Vacuuming, washing surfaces, wiping handles, and disposing of old food from the kitchen are just a few of many ways to avoid the risk of picking up a bug from around your home.

Eating healthy food and exercising are usually the go-to remedies people mention to keep your immune system well. But there's another forgotten essential to maintain a healthy body; keeping you and your home clean is just as crucial to stop the transmission and intake of germs too.
