Name: Martin Scott

Practice with me at: Yoga Tree 6th Avenue, YogaWorks Divisadero, Love Story Yoga, and Yoga Flow Union Street.

How long I’ve been practicing yoga: 20+ years.

How long I’ve been teaching yoga: 10 years full time.

What kind of yoga I teach: Vinyasa.

My mantra these days: Leave the phone alone.

A posture that has been resonating with me lately is: I'm enjoying Natarajasana a lot right now because it's a little bit of everything - backbend, balance, core, strength, release.  I've been working to refine it and finding new ways to help students enjoy it.

How I like to practice yoga off the mat: I do my best to show Unconditional Love for all beings, to have Compassion for those who are suffering, to keep Happiness in my heart and to Disengage from the things that do not serve a higher purpose.

My sign: Cancer.

The last book I read was: The Stranger In The Woods by Michael Finkel.

Favorite local juice/tea spot: Project Juice for juice, Samovar for tea, and Saint Frank Coffee for coffee.

Where I go for a nourishing meal: My Kitchen.

What’s on your yoga playlist right now: Dawn - RY X, Open - Peter Gabriel, Indian Summer - Jai Wolf, Boy Down Mister - Boy George, Human - Aquilo, Everything At Your Feet - Odesza, I Won't Fall - Notilucent, Like A River Runs - Sia, Twameva (Lifeline Remix) - Jai Uttal, Tum Bin Shyam - DJ Cheb I Sabbah and Kafi Noir - Sheila Chandra.

A few of my favorite yoga teachers areSri Dharma Mittra, Devorah Sacks, Stephanie Snyder, Jason Crandell.  I really like what Rod Stryker does - I want to learn more from him.

A ritual I love: Making a Maple Latte with my 34yr old espresso machine.

What I am letting go of this year: I'm letting go of attachments to how I think things are supposed to be.

What I am embracing this year: CHANGE. I'm fully embracing that change is a constant.
